Essex Regiment - Timeline after the Great War
Although many battalions were
disbanded after the Armistice of the Great War, the Essex
Regiment continued to fight on.
The 1st and 2nd Battalions continued as
full time infantry.
The 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th continued as
part time Territorial Units.
In 1935 the 7th Essex was converted to
an anti aircraft Brigade and renumbered the 59th(Essex Regiment)
Anti Aircraft Brigade.
In 1938 the 6th Essex split into the
1/6th and 2/6th Battalions and both were trained in the use of
searchlights. I
