Ardleigh Red Cross Hospital

The Ardleigh Red Cross Hospital  had 18 beds and was  situated in the Village Hall.

On 7 December 1914 it is recorded as having received 8 wounded men all of whom were suffering from frost bitten feet, one belig a stretcher case.

The Matron was Mrs Ball

The Commandant was Mrs Rous

Dr Lownds attended the patients free of charge.
